Our Engine Reconditioning Process

Complete Disassembly & Inspection

Every engine reconditioning project begins with complete disassembly and thorough inspection of all components. Our experienced technicians identify worn parts, damage, and opportunities for performance improvement.

Chemical Cleaning

Cleaning your engine is one of the most important first steps in our process. In order for us to thoroughly inspect your engine, we need to clean it of any oil, grease, rust, old paint or debris. We are set up with both hot and cold chemical cleaning tanks to carry this out.

Precision Machining

Our state-of-the-art machining equipment ensures every component meets exact specifications:

  • Engine block boring and honing
  • Crankshaft grinding and polishing
  • Cylinder head resurfacing
  • Connecting rod reconditioning
  • Flywheel machining and balancing

Component Replacement

We replace all wear items with high-quality components:

  • New pistons, rings, and bearings
  • Complete gasket and seal sets
  • Timing chains/belts and components
  • Water pump and oil pump replacement
  • New filters and fluids

Expert Assembly

Assembling an engine can be a time consuming and intricate process. This requires a high level of experience and attention to detail. Our expert team are fully trained and equipped to assemble your engine from start to finish.

Testing & Quality Assurance

Every reconditioned engine undergoes comprehensive testing including:

  • Leak-down testing
  • Compression testing
  • Oil pressure verification
  • Cooling system pressure testing
  • Final performance validation.

When your engine shows signs of wear, high mileage, or mechanical failure, Taylor Automotive’s engine reconditioning services provide a cost-effective alternative to engine replacement. Our merged expertise from Taylor Automotive and GER Engine Specialists makes us Auckland’s premier engine rebuilding specialists.
