Cylinder Sleeving – FAQs
Cylinder sleeving involves installing a thin cast iron liner or sleeve into a damaged cylinder. This restores the cylinder to its original size and allows standard pistons to be reused, extending engine life and reducing replacement costs.
Sleeving is recommended when a cylinder is too worn or damaged to be bored, or when the maximum oversized piston has already been used. It’s also used in high-performance engines to increase block strength.
Yes — in addition to restoring original dimensions, specialised sleeves can increase block durability and help engines withstand higher pressures in turbocharged or high-horsepower applications.
Most engines can be sleeved, but suitability depends on the block material, size, and damage. After assessment, we’ll recommend the best solution for your engine.
Using our CNC Machining Centre, sleeves are installed with exact tolerances to maintain proper alignment, roundness, and piston fit, ensuring reliable long-term performance.
